Dear Horizons Staff,

We hope the first month of 2022 has been kind to you and your health.

This is a quick update to let you know that we have updated our COVID-19 Health and Safety Policy to stay current with the latest guidance around testing and quarantining in MA and the Early Education sector. Please see attached, particularly pages 4 – 6.

The biggest change includes: After confirmed exposure

  • Unvaccinated staff must take a rapid COVID test each day for 5 days and continue to work while wearing a mask around others while test results are negative and symptom-free.
  • Vaccinated staff do not need to quarantine if symptom-free.

Additional updates

  • We have decided to extend Program and Administrative staff’s return to their regular on-site schedules to Tuesday, March 1, 2022, to allow for a smooth return once COVID cases in MA are low again and Horizons’ vaccination rate is projected to be 95.5%.
  • This means that our All-Staff Trauma-Informed Care Training on Monday, February 28 from 8 am – 4 pm will be held virtually. Center staff will mostly join virtually from their respective classrooms to ensure a smooth learning experience with new on-site technology.

Reminders

1. If you are unable to work due to COVID and are requesting to use Massachusetts Emergency Paid Sick Leave hours (you can view your balance in Paycom), you must complete an attestation through Paycom’s Ask Here to be approved to use the time. This allows us to provide documentation to the state to be paid for that time.

2. Our on-site weekly pooled PCR testing will continue to be available to all staff on Wednesdays from 8:30 – 9:30 am. We also have rapid tests available on-site for testing any other day of the week.

3. All staff are highly encouraged to get a vaccine booster shot as we have learned how effective they are at preventing severe illness and hospitalization given that protection from primary vaccination has reduced over time.

4. All staff are expected to read and follow our Health & Safety Policy.

As always, thank you for your commitment to our mission and one another as we continue to adapt while improving lives and keeping each other safe.

Warmly,

Laura DiMaria, PHR, SHRM-CP
