Second Annual Celebrity Circuit Challenge Raises Nearly $50,000 for Horizons for Homeless Children
ROXBURY, MA (March 27, 2017) – Horizons for Homeless Children, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of young homeless children by ensuring they have access to early education and opportunities to play, announced its second annual Celebrity Circuit Challenge (formerly known as FUNdraiser Fight with the Pros) raised nearly $50,000 this past weekend.
The event, hosted by EverybodyFights® and CSN New England on March 25th, brought together nine teams to compete in a circuit-training workout. Corporate sponsors included Northwestern Mutual Boston, Criteo, Momentum Enterprises, Spectrum Equity, Luxury Residential Group, Charlesbank, and Blue Cross Blue Shield. All proceeds went directly to Horizons, and will be used to support its programs that serve children and families who are experiencing homelessness.
Each team was led by a Boston sports celebrity. Coaches included:
- WEEI & CSN personality and former Red Sox player Lou Merloni
- Celtics Player Terry Rozier
- Celtics Player Gerald Green
- Canadian Alpine Ski Racer Olympian Elli Terwiel
- NBA Champion and former Celtics Forward Leon Powe
- NBA Champion, former Celtics forward and CSN Color Analyst Brian Scalabrine

“We were very pleased to collaborate with Horizons for Homeless Children and EverybodyFights – along with these local Boston athletes and celebrities – to continue promoting the message about the importance of educating young, homeless children,” said Princell Hair, Senior Vice President and General Manager, CSN New England. “This event has once again proven to be an impactful way of raising awareness of this important issue and reinforce all that Horizons for Homeless Children does.”
“As a company, it is important that we continue to stay connected and support our local community,” said George Foreman III, founder of EverybodyFights®. “We are here to support all fighters, which extends beyond our gym walls. That’s why we make it a point to fight it forward, and empower our community to do it, too. The fact that one in every 30 kids in the United States is homeless is a shocking and unacceptable number. We’re so happy to be involved with Horizons for Homeless Children in their mission to end this alarming statistic. They’re true fighters, and this event was an incredible way of showcasing their strength.”
“We are so grateful for all of the support we received from our sponsors, participants, attendees, and coaches,” said Kate Barrand, President and CEO of Horizons for Homeless Children. “We couldn’t have done it without CSN New England and EverybodyFights; they have been enormously helpful in engaging our local community and raising awareness about the issue of child and family homelessness in Massachusetts.”
