Weymouth pre-school teacher draws from life experiences

6/25/18- While growing up in South Boston, Lisa Crowley’s parents struggled with drug addiction and mental illness, but these difficulties have helped her relate with the children she teaches at Horizon For Homeless Children in Boston.

“I’ve been here for seven years,” said Crowley, who now lives in Weymouth. “What got me into early childhood education was my upbringing. I grew up in a family of addicts. My parents were lucky to get into support groups. One of those groups was Julie’s Family Learning Program. They help single mothers get a GED diploma and take parenting classes. They gave a lot of support. ”
