Enrollment Information

Horizons’ Early Education Center serves children and their families. Classrooms range from children 2 months to 5 years old and operate year-round from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. Center staff are specially trained to address the unique circumstances homeless children face. Every Horizons classroom is staffed by three teachers including a bilingual teacher. Horizons uses a two-generational model that focuses on the growth of both children and parents through partnerships with a variety of community organizations. When children are enrolled in the Early Education program, their parents are enrolled in our Family Partnerships Program. Horizons’ Family Advocates work closely with parents using a methodology called Mobility Mentoring to support them in reaching their goals. They provide services ranging from parenting and financial literacy classes to connecting parents with educational and employment opportunities.

We encourage shelter employees, medical professionals, Early Intervention providers, and any other community based providers working directly with a family experiencing homelessness in need of childcare to contact our Admissions department.

A family is added to the center waitlist upon request. Once a family has reached the top of the waitlist and there is an age-appropriate opening for their child, the Horizons’ Admissions department will reach out to whoever made the referral to begin the enrollment process.

In order to document eligibility, families must provide a valid shelter letter or a Homeless Approval Form completed by BPS or the local childcare resource and referral agency.
