Admissions and

Enrollment Information

Horizons has three Community Children’s Centers that serve 175 children and their families. Classrooms range from children 2 months to 5 years old and operate year-round from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. Center staff are specially trained to address the unique circumstances homeless children face. Every Horizons classroom is staffed by three teachers including a bilingual teacher. Horizons uses a two-generational model that focuses on the growth of both children and parents through partnerships with a variety of community organizations. When children are enrolled in the Early Education program, their parents are enrolled in our Family Partnerships Program. Horizons’ Family Advocates work closely with parents using a methodology called Mobility Mentoring to support them in reaching their goals. They provide services ranging from parenting and financial literacy classes to connecting parents with educational and employment opportunities.

Our three Community Children’s Centers are located at the following locations:

1705 Columbus Avenue, Roxbury MA 02119

555 Amory Street, Jamaica Plain MA 02130

90 Cushing Avenue, Dorchester MA 02125

We encourage shelter employees, medical professionals, Early Intervention providers, and any other community based providers working directly with a family experiencing homelessness in need of childcare to contact our Enrollment and Funding Department.

A family is added to the center waitlist based on the proximity of their address to that location, and can be added to any combination of center waitlists. Once a family has reached the top of the waitlist and there is an age-appropriate opening for their child, the Enrollment and Funding department will reach out to whoever made the referral to begin the enrollment process.

In order to document eligibility, families must provide a valid shelter letter or a Homeless Approval Form completed by BPS or the local Childcare Resource and Referral Agency.

If you would like access to the online referral link or to discuss a family’s status on the waitlist, please contact enrollment@horizonschildren.org
