Happyness… It’s What’s for Breakfast
By: Horizons’ Events Team
This past Thursday, we held our 18th annual Women’s Breakfast, one of our biggest fundraisers of the year. Guests from different backgrounds and a broad range of companies all joined together for one mission: to help homeless children and their families. And they succeeded. We raised more than $735,000 from the generous support of our sponsors and donors of this year’s event.
The morning kicked off with a coffee hour while a record-setting amount of guests registered, networked, and mingled with some of our PALs and teachers! Check out the event photos.
CSN New England anchor and reporter, Trenni Kusnierek, emceed the event. Our CEO, Kate Barrand, introduced Horizons with this video to discuss our work. Inspirational stories followed from Crossroads shelter staff, discussing the importance of the Playspace Program, and a brave mom named Amy, speaking words of growth, strength, and appreciation to Horizons.
Guests were in for a special treat when the first-ever male guest speaker, Chris Gardner, took the stage. Gardner, the inspiration for the acclaimed movie The Pursuit of Happyness spoke about his homeless experience and motivated the room through a message about the importance of giving children permission to dream.
We’d like to thank all of this year’s guests and supporters; we wouldn’t have been able to #ChangeLivesB4Lunch without you!
