Patriots Present Patriots Difference Maker of the Week Award to Steve Wong – Horizons PAL Volunteer

Patriots Foundation donating $10,000 to Horizons for Homeless Children

FOXBOROUGH, Mass.– The Celebrate Volunteerism initiative aims to share examples of dedicated volunteers, build awareness of the need for volunteering, identify and educate others about volunteer opportunities and inspire New Englanders to follow the Kraft family’s example of becoming lifelong volunteers.

Though the spirit of volunteerism is felt throughout New England year-round, the Kraft family, the New England Patriots Foundation and cornerstone partner Gillette celebrated the season long initiative in a special pregame ceremony during the Patriots regular season finale versus the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, Jan. 4 at Gillette Stadium.

“We are proud to honor volunteers across New England whose service reflects the values that strengthen our region,” said Robert Kraft, Chairman and CEO of the New England Patriots. “Their dedication supports our communities and upholds the principles that have long defined New England. The individuals we recognize today show how acts of service and kindness can spark meaningful change and encourage others to get involved.”

Steve Wong from Chelmsford, Mass. was selected as a 2025 Patriots Difference Maker of the Week for his commitment to Horizons for Homeless Children. As part of this recognition, the Kraft family, the New England Patriots Foundation and Gillette will be making a $10,000 donation to support the nonprofit.

Horizons for Homeless Children aims to improve the lives of young homeless children in Massachusetts and help their families succeed by providing high-quality early education, opportunities for play, and comprehensive family support. For the past two years, Steve Wong has been a steady, compassionate presence as a Playspace Activity Leader (PAL) with Horizons for Homeless Children. Every Wednesday evening, he dedicates two hours inside a family shelter creating a safe, joyful environment where children under the age of eight can simply be kids.

“I am deeply grateful to the Kraft family and the New England Patriots Foundation for this incredible honor and for their generous donation to Horizons for Homeless Children,” said Steve. “Volunteering with Horizons for Homeless Children has shown me how a consistent, caring adult and a safe place to play can brighten a child’s outlook, even in the hardest circumstances. As a lifelong Patriots fan, I’m inspired to keep doing my part and invite others to join our championship team of volunteers. Thank you to the Kraft family and the New England Patriots Foundation for celebrating the power of service and community.”

What sets Steve apart is the unique way he blends consistency, compassion, and creativity to meet each child exactly where they are. Many volunteers give their time generously, but Steve gives something more: he gives children back their sense of safety and belonging.
