Boston – Horizons for Homeless Children is proud to have partnered with Second Chance Cars to present Horizons parent Esclanette with a refurbished Acura MDX on October 14. Students in the automotive program at Southeastern Regional Vocational Technical High School in Easton prepared the vehicle, and faculty and students gathered to celebrate as the car was unveiled.
Esclanette, who lives in Mattapan, had been spending about 13 hours a week riding multiple buses and trains to get where she needed to go. Her new car gives her that time back, with more hours for her child and more room to pursue new opportunities. Before the unveiling, she read a poem for the audience, and Michey, her Horizons Coaching Specialist, joined her for the celebration.
Moments like this show what’s possible when community partners come together around a family. Horizons is grateful to Second Chance Cars and to the students and staff at Southeastern for helping one of its families take a meaningful step toward stability.
