General, Our Supporters

Thank you for helping us shine

As we reflect on 2025, we are filled with gratitude for the community that stood alongside Horizons for Homeless Children during a year of growth, strength, and lasting impact.

Demonstrating this impact, we were recently profiled as a model in The Boston Globe via The Hechinger Report – a national publication that reports on education.

Last year, your generosity and belief in our mission helped Horizons:

Expanding Access to Education and Resources

At our Early Education Center, Horizons’ highly trained team of teachers delivered trauma-informed curriculum with predictable routines and ongoing developmental assessments.

  • – Built and opened two new classrooms and a gross motor space, increasing our daily capacity to 261 children.
  • – Provided 118,526 nutritious meals and healthy snacks to children enrolled in our early education center and grocery cards to families.
  • – Assessed 100% of incoming children and developed an individualized educational plan based on each child’s needs and strengths.
  • – Partnered with the Museum of Science, leading universities and corporations to deliver best-in-class STEM programming.
  • – Hosted storytellers in our library that contains more than 4,000 books.

Strengthening Families in a Changing Landscape

As changes to public benefits, immigration policy, and shelter systems created uncertainty, our Family Partnerships Program provided steady, responsive support.

  • – Over 127 parents strengthened skills by participating in on-site courses, including computer training and financial literacy programs.
  • – 70 parents advanced their education and career paths through job training, certification, and degree programs, opening doors to higher-paying jobs and long-term stability.
  • – Launched a revitalized Parent Leadership Council, centering a wide range of parent voices in our growing community.

Bringing Play, Stability, and Joy to Children in Shelter

Through our Playspace Program, Horizons ensured children living in shelter continued to have access to safe, developmentally appropriate play no matter how the shelter system changed.

  • – More than 700 volunteer Playspace Activity Leaders provided 74,000+ hours of play to over 4,000 children across Massachusetts

Leading With Advocacy and Care

Horizons continued to lead beyond direct service, advocating for children and families while strengthening the foundation that makes our work possible.

  • – Reframed key legislation to expand access to services for children experiencing homelessness.
  • – Parents and staff traveled to Washington, D.C. to highlight challenges of family homelessness directly with policymakers.
  • – Continued investing in staff, leadership development, and organizational stability to ensure Horizons remains a stable, trusted partner for families.

Thank You for Helping Us Shine

These highlights represent a snapshot of what your support made possible. Because of you, children are growing with confidence, parents are building skills and stability, and families facing homelessness are met with dignity, care, and opportunity.

From all of us at Horizons for Homeless Children — our staff, board, volunteers, and the families we serve — thank you for helping us shine in 2025. We look forward to continuing this work together in the year ahead.

We invite you to stay connected by joining us at our 2026 events:
